Pheasants in the Dakotas

For Christmas 2011, our two boys received a hunting trip with their Dad.  Well, yesterday the big day arrived; the group of five (including two of my nephews) left for Mitchell, South Dakota, to hunt pheasants in the wild.  To me the hunt isn't as important as the week of bonding between Dad and the boys.  Gotta make memories while the sun is shining!

2nd to Last

After yesterday's chemo treatment, we have one more scheduled for the end of October.  The Doc then will order another PET scan and CAT scan to decide Plan C.  We're both hoping the extension of the chemo treatments did their job and will give us a reprieve through the next few months.  It'll be wonderful to get some good news!

Clinic-Time

Yesterday, once again, we visited the Clinic for Larry's doctor's appointment and his chemo treatment.  The Doc said that since Larry was handling the treatments without too devastating results he was adding two more sessions--Oct. 5th and then again Oct. 31st.  Both of us were hoping for a few months reprieve from the chemo, but that's not to be.  Playing it one day at a time!

Update

Since Larry's last chemo, the side effects still linger.  Mostly he is just so "pooped" that the day is spent on dozing on the recliner.  His energy level has really dipped; the chemo treatment is the 12th so hopefully his condition will improve by then.  I tend to keep the phone off the hook to keep things quiet and peaceful.  If need occurs to call, please use the cell number.

Feelin' Good

Fourteen days have passed since Larry's chemo treatment.  Initially he had a rough five days following it, but now he's in great form. On Saturday we enjoyed a beautiful day on the lake with our boys & family and friends.   We're celebrating tomorrow by traveling with friends to Montauk again for a couple days of trout fishing.  So...life is good!  For now.  On Wednesday the 22nd we go in for another chemo treatment.  Gotta make hay while the sun shines!!!!

Number 2

"Cojack" and I made our 2nd trip to the Clinic for the next round of chemo.  Day didn't start out well...four nurses took their two attempts each to  get the IV going.  Finally on the 8th needle stick, it took.  Man, after the 2nd attempt, if it would have been me, I'd a pulled gun!  Larry was patient as always, though.  After the hour delay, the drug started flowing.  Last night didn't go well either.  He was up at 3:00 a.m. with pains and ended in the recliner for the duration of the night.
Asi es, asi sera.

New Look

Over the weekend, we got a brand-new look going on...Larry lost his head of hair, not that he had much before chemo!  Lookin' good, though.  Our friends believe the "shaved-head" look is dashing and makes him look younger.  Personally, I love him no matter what hairstyle he sports!
